Russian farmers will expand soybean area

21.06.2016
In April soybean exports from Russia reached 21.8 KMT against 19.6 KMT in April 2015 and 72.9 KMT in March 2016. The reduction of April's shipments did not affect the overall results of the season. Since the beginning of the current marketing year (September-April) Russia exported 370.5 KMT of soybean against 229.6 KMT during the same period last season. No doubt the current marketing year will set a new record. Almost all soybeans were supplied to Chinese market.

A persistent trend of soybean acreage growth has been observed in Russia for more than ten years. Soybean planted area increased from 718 Th ha in season 2005/06 to 2102.1 Th ha in season 2015/16. Next marketing year farmers intend to expand soybean area to more than 2200 Th ha, about 57% of which account for Far East. The state increases crushing capacity in the region by investments in construction of new enterprises and by means of other mechanisms of state support (investments, easy-term loans, priority development area support, and others).

More details about soybean market in Russia will be discussed at the IV International Conference "Black Sea Oil Trade-2016", September 7, 2016, Kyiv, Ukraine. Organizer - consulting agency UkrAgroConsult.
